On the debut of “This Week in Twitter,” we met the hosts, Lon Harris and Natasha Wescoat, and news man Mike Bracco, and introduced our very first special guest, AdventureGirl Stefanie Michaels. The show kicked off with a lively interview of Michaels, focusing largely on how she managed to develop a massive audience (over 1.5 million followers!) in under a year on Twitter. Other topics touched on included:
- How Michaels manages to enjoy her world travels while also reporting back to her audience about her experiences
- Tips for explaining Twitter to a mainstream, non-technical audience (including old people)
- Tweeting While Intoxicated
- Balancing the desire to be open and get personal on Twitter without encouraging stalkers or blurting out the wrong thing
- MC Hammer and his pants (OK, so we got a little distracted!)
Lon then introduced a new Twitter game…Name That Hashtag! Players listen to a selection of tweets and then have to guess the hashtag that appeared on all of them. The hashtags chosen were:
#Groundhogday (everyone got this right away)
#420 (no one got it…perhaps it’s too obscure a term?)
#UknowUbrokewhen (@AdventureGirl guessed it, with some help from Google)
Then, Lon moved on to a rant about East Coast residents spoiling “Lost” on Twitter. Natasha noted that it’s a big issue for “Dexter” fans as well. Seriously…why do people feel the need to post spoilers on Twitter? Let us know what you think…
Finally, it was time for the News with Mike Bracco. Stories included:

- http://mashable.com/2010/02/03/teens-dont-tweet-or-blog/ Teens don’t tweet
